IE8 issues

Dunno if this is IE8, Windows 7, my computer, or something else...
My gaming laptop is running Windows 7 RC, which is awesome on toast. I tried to run Firefox on Win7, and it bogged down the entire system, especially the D&D 4E Character Builder (which apparently uses the default browser to display the character sheet). So I wiped FF, and am making an effort to use IE8. As VV_GM knows, IE8 is a 'return to browsing standards' for Microsoft, and sites set up to serve pages to previous versions of IE don't always display correctly in IE8. In other words, MS is getting hoist on its own petard for straying from standards for so long. I'll give you a moment to savor the irony here.
Anyway, when making a long reply to a YMIAT post in IE8, the reply window will scroll down so far (about two "windows" of text), and then will scroll down just long enough for the keystroke, then scroll back up. It's a bit disconcerting, looking like an old-school typewriter or teletype. I have no idea why it does this, or what the fix is, but I thought I'd post it here.
I'll try a few changes, such as IE8's 'compatibility view' or reinstalling Firefox, but selecting IE as the default browser. If I find anything, I'll reply here.

I'll test it on my Windows 7 RC system, but I have to tell you that it is running Firefox with no issues whatsoever. If I can't recereate your problem, then I doubt it is the site or IE8 but rather soemthign unique to your system. But hey, that is why it is a "Release Candidate"!
Thanks for the heads up though. As soon SMF 2.0 is in production I'm planning to upgrade the site. It is good to know if IE8 is going to cause me headaches now and it how it might affect those plans.

Okay, my test reproduced the issue so it must be an IE8/SMF or Windows 7 RC/SMF issue incompatibility issue (technically IE8 on Windows 7 is different than the IE8 available for download right now). I'll report it to the SMF community and see if they release a patch.
Thanks for reporting the issue Telas!

I'm glad it wasn't me.
Frustrating little bug, isn't it?

I reported the same thing a while back. For me, it's IE8 and it's common to several forums I visit.

Yes you did, but IE8 for Vista/XP is prod release and IE8 for Windows 7 is still beta. There might be code differences, so I had to treat Windows 7 as a new issue.
That said, I doubt that I will be able to fix these issues as I'm betting that it is a PHP/IE8 problem. Hope the YMIAT crowd likes Firefox...

I'll go with "You know more about it than I do, so that works for me." for $500 Alex

The only issue I have is the logo being so large it overlaps the simple machines forum logo when I use Firefox, Safari, and IE8. Damn standards compliant browsers... IE7 at least broke the Internet right!
