So, I have just started a 3rd ed D&D campaign set in Greyhawk that will soon turn into a Spelljammer campaign.  They have just obtained a magical rug that is actually a gateway to an extradimensional space that houses a lord's collection of the strange.  If it was from the ancient past, another plane or another planet, he collected it.  The stranger, the better.

So I am looking for some suggestions as to what this gallery might hold.  I'm looking for a good mix of stuffed creatures, strange artifacts, and bizarre artworks with heaping handful of dormant creatures or constructs that can menace my group.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Bag of Recovery:  Works like a Bag of Holding, except that every day at approximately a certain time, it transports its contents to a pre-determined location.  Very handy for treasure-seekers and the like.  Very frustrating for adventurers.

Demi-Lich in a stasis container (glass case).  It looks like a jeweled skull, and is safe until the glass is broken, at which point Really Bad Things Happen.

Frozen Troll Remains.  WARNING: Do not allow above 32 degrees.

(Stuffed) Giant Cockroach, complete with elaborately decorated saddle.

Brain-dead after the weekend, or I'd give you more.

A game is only as balanced as the GM.

When you sit down at the table, there's only one question you have to ask yourself: "What kind of game do I want to have tonight?"

Depending on how he was, there is nothing to prevent him from transporting an entire gate from someplace.

Not a magical gate, just a gate, but not any gate.

I got this idea during my recent holiday in Spain, where I saw this ancient cathedral, which had this extremely impressive gate, which had the doorway around it decorated with all kinds of holy symbols; The cross, angels, clouds, and so on.

You should just theme it for a DnD centric deity; I don't know which deities you have in your setting, but for a standard core setting, you could go with Ehlonna or Obad-Hai and have the decorations be various types of fey creatures mixed with celestial-like beings.

Spelljammer is like Rifts right? WTF Technologies and quirky magic like space faring pirate ships and typically used as a nexus point between converging planes, dimensions and alternate realities, right?

If I am thinking of thing then I would suggest the following:

An automatronic Abe Lincoln, once an interactive machine at the Smithsonian, now a rogue half-wit with enough functionality to continue operating and surviving, but no real comprehension of what has happened to him or where he is. He is wearing a shirt that says John Dillinger Died For Your Sins and carrying a broken Geiger counter which, when activated, immediately registers lethal quantities of radiation.

edit: Not sure if that qualifies as a construct, but what the hell, right?

I may seem overbearing and maniacal, but it's largely tempered by two facts:

1) I'm cute and fuzzy
2) I'm pretty much harmless

Head Jar - A simple display case with a wooden base and glass bell-style top.  If a severed head is placed within and the glass lid is closed, it brings the head back to life.  The head can speak (even though it clearly lacks lungs), but doesn't need air, food, or water to survive.  50% chance of being "occupied" with someone who is <roll roll roll> "Pleased" to meet you.

Telas: Some days a simple clue is enough; some days you need a clue-by-four.

Phindar: ?Suggestion is the Jedi Mind Trick.  ?These are not the murderous hobos (i.e. adventurers) you're looking for.??

How about a small orb (about 3" across) thhat looks like black stone with grey marbling.  It hovers in the air, completely unmoved by the force of gravity.  It does absolutely nothing but stay exactly where it is placed (whether in air or on a surface).  It is solid, but feels like it has no mass.  The players may try to figure out the deeper meaning of such a mysterious and magical device, but in reality it is just a nice rock sample from a pocket dimension where gravity has no effect.
